Walk into the gym at Emerald Hills Elementary on a Tuesday or Thursday morning, and the scene might look like a circus.

Literally.

It’s called Juggling Club, and it’s a hit. 

Throughout the school year, dozens of EHE students show up early twice a week to practice their juggling skills, led by PE teacher Mark Holme.

This is Juggling Club’s first year at Emerald Hills, but Holme first started the program at Crestwood Elementary years ago. 

Holme learned how to juggle in college and said he enjoys teaching students. His students say they love learning. 

“I like watching other people improve, as well as myself, and improving on things I always thought were impossible,” said fifth grader Kenna M. 

Kenna was one of the students who passed her juggling test, which landed her on the Juggling Hall of Fame. She can juggle soft fabric cubes and is now learning how to juggle while balancing on a wheel.

“There's a variety of fun things to do like partner juggling, rings, a bunch of things,” added fifth grader Grace S., who is also in the Hall of Fame. “You also meet a bunch of people, there's like so many different people here, and to work with Mr. Holme, he's so nice.”

Juggling Club held its last meeting of the year in May, but the club will return next school year.
