School Canceled Sept. 10-11: Reassess for next week; focus on staff/family well-being now
Posted by SBLSD on 9/9/2020
As we continue to face the unfortunate impacts of multiple fires in our area with associated evacuations, power outages and no internet access, we also face the subsequent reality of not being able to -- equitably -- begin school in a distance learning format.
The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District is again delaying the start of school, canceling distance learning for the rest of this week, Sept. 10-11. As we’re in close contact with local police, fire and emergency management officials, we’ll reassess on Sunday the ability to begin school next week.
Other items to note:
Open: SBLSD Childcare Program, Sept. 10-11
Rescheduled: Kindergarten Family Connections (stay tuned for new dates)
Available: Free meals to children 18 and younger, Sept. 10-11 (children do not need to be present)
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Our hearts are with the many staff, students and families who have been evacuated from their homes and the countless more who are on alert for a potential evacuation.
We’re choosing to focus on the well-being of those in need. Because, well, that’s who we are. We teach our staff and students to be servant leaders, with hearts that have impact beyond a google classroom and that go into our community.
This isn’t a teaching moment we envisioned, but there’s learning happening apart from any scheduled curriculum. We hope to begin school soon, stronger than ever.
Please watch for further communication on Sunday or whenever other important news comes our way. Thank you for your patience. Please stay safe.
