Upcoming testing for students in grades 4 and 5

Annual accountability testing that would’ve been administered last spring is now taking place this fall for students in grades 4-9, 11-12. Tests include the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, and the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). Tests and timelines vary by school and grade level. Please watch for details from your child’s school. Here’s an overview of what to expect:

  • Grade 4: SBA: ELA and Math (3rd-grade level)
  • Grade 5: SBA: ELA and Math (4th-grade level)
  • Grade 6: SBA: ELA and Math, and WCAS (5th-grade level)
  • Grade 7: SBA: ELA and Math (6th-grade level)
  • Grade 8: SBA: ELA and Math (7th-grade level)
  • Grade 9: SBA: ELA and Math and WCAS (8th-grade level)
  • Grade 11: SBA: ELA and Math (10th-grade level)
  • Grade 12: SBA: ELA and Math, and WCAS (11th-grade level)

Testing will also occur in Spring 2022. Students in grades 3-8 and 10 will take the Smarter Balanced Assessments in English Language Arts and Math. Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 will take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science.
