Mountain View Middle School Expansion and Track & Field Upgrades
With about a week left of work on the field portion, construction crews cut in the inlaid numbers, soccer and loacrosse lines, and then wil apply the infill.
The track has its first coat of red structural spray just before the rain hits. Turf installation will begin after the track portion is complete. It's starting to look like an athletic field!
Amid wind, fire, power outages and evacuations, work continues with about 50 percent completion of the track base layer. Red sctructural spray will follow, then the lanes and markings. After the track comes the turf!
At their Aug. 19 meeting, the School Board received an update on Mountain View's expansion construction project:
This summer weather is perfect for allowing us to make substantial progress on Mountain View Middle School Track & Field Upgrades. We’re on schedule to complete the 2016 Capital Construction Bond project this fall. Here’s where we’re at:
Drainlines and gravel base have been installed on the south half of the field
Excavation is complete for the retaining wall and wall base on the north end of the field
Electrical conduit is being run from the building to the field to power the field lights
At the June 2 board meeting, the School Board received a presentation on the Mountain View Middle School Expansion and Modernization Project. The presentation included project background, prior concepts, proposed concepts and next steps.
Behind-the-scenes work (analyses, studies, surveys and permitting) on Mountain View Middle School’s Track & Field Upgrade project has been taking place for quite some time. Now, all will be able to see visible work on the project with bulldozers and other equipment on the site to begin construction. The School Board awarded the construction contract to Specialized Landscaping with work to begin immediately.
A 2016 Construction Bond project, Mountain View’s track and field will feature a regulation-sized, eight-lane track and a turf field that will be striped for football, soccer and lacrosse, with a new shot put area in an adjacent small grassy field. LED lighting will be installed for year-round use. Other features include new soccer goals, hurdles, field benches and spectator bleachers. Anticipated completion is Fall 2020.

The project is underway! Using funds from the 2016 bond earmarked for the Mountain View project, the District is going out for bid in March for the Track & Field portion of the project, which is expected to be complete in Fall 2020. We’re excited to be moving forward with the Mountain View Middle School Track & Field Upgrades and Expansion project, which voters made possible with the passage of the 2016 Capital Bond.
The District continues with the permitting process for the project, including a critical areas analysis, a geotechnical study, a traffic scoping study, and surveying. It's anticipated that the construction of the track and field portion of the project will be completed in Fall 2020 with the opening of the school expansion portion of the project to be determined following completion of permitting.
Work continues to obtain permits from the City of Bonney Lake. Preliminary studies in preparation for permitting include a traffic study, a critical areas analysis and a geotechnical study. The traffic study is currently underway. It's anticipated that construction of the track and field portion of the project will start in Spring 2020.
