New Immunization Tracking System

WAIIS is a lifetime registry that tracks immunization records for people of all ages. Immunizations in this registry are verified and signed by a medical provider. Immunization records are accessible to families at wa.MyIR.net.

It keeps track of student immunization records, even if the family moves, changes providers, or loses their physical records.

When immunization records are verified and signed by a medical provider, it ensures students won’t be excluded from schools due to a disease outbreak for which they have been immunized, such as measles or mumps. (Please note that students with an exemption may still be excluded in the event of an outbreak).

Families whose student immunization records are not verified in the Washington state database, or have not yet provided medically verified immunization records, or a certificate of exemption are being contacted by SBLSD health room staff. Under the new system, all immunization records must be verified and signed by a medical provider. Please note that some immunization requirements have changed in the last few years. We cannot “grandfather-in” a noncompliant student.

Option 1

Ask your healthcare provider to enter your student’s immunization records into the state registry. This ensures the most accurate record as your provider can also enter brand names and lot numbers. 

Option 2

Have your healthcare provider complete the Certification of Immunization Status form and share the completed form with the state. Most care providers will do this free of charge. SBLSD does not recommend paying your care provider for this service.

Option 3

Give SBLSD permission to update your records by completing these steps:

• Complete the Certification of Immunization Status form, including signing the consent box in the top left, and share with SBLSD.
• Share your medically-verified and provider signed immunization records with SBLSD. If your student has a certificate of exemption, please include this information.
• Send both documents to your school health room.

Records stored in this system are accurate, up-to-date, and available for life. Skyward records were not considered official and transferable, hindering enrollment.

Please note, opting out of WAIIS participation does not excuse students and families from complying with immunization requirements by submitting medically verified immunization records or certificates of exemption. Starting in the 2023-24 school year, SBLSD will use WAIIS as the official system to update and track all immunization records for our students.

Yes. SBLSD needs to enter exemptions in WAIIS as well and requires your permission to do so. Including exemptions allows SBLSD to identify students who may be at risk due to a disease outbreak for which they have not been immunized, such as measles or whooping cough.
