Principal Anthony Clarke

I am extremely excited and blessed to be serving our Bonney Lake community as the Principal of Bonney Lake High School. The overwhelming welcome back and genuine excitement I have received from students, our staff members, and this community has been truly humbling and one of the most special moments of my professional career. Bonney Lake is a special place for my family and I. I am fortunate to come back to the Panther family.

Some of you may already know me. However, for those who do not, I would like to introduce my family and I: I am lucky enough to have an amazing wife, Sarah, and daughter, Faith. Sarah and I are celebrating our eighteenth anniversary this August! Faith is an alumni of BLHS and is currently a student at the University of Oregon. She enjoys theatre, and you may have seen her in shows at BLHS and with Manestage Theatre. Both my wife and daughter are far more talented than I, especially when it comes to the arts. Sarah and I moved to Washington State to open Bonney Lake High School sixteen years ago. I served BLHS as a Social Science Teacher and Head Wrestling Coach for the first nine years. I then became an Assistant Principal at BLHS for the next seven years. I left BLHS last year to become the Principal at Enumclaw Middle School. I learned so much in that role and the community was amazing. However, the opportunity to come back to BLHS to be the Principal of our school was too great to pass up. To put it plainly, it is my dream job. Our city has become our home and we are so happy to continue to serve this community in which we live.

Education changed my life. Due to my personal experience overcoming a learning disability, I have a special empathy for all students, especially for students who are traditionally underserved. I tirelessly work to make sure others have access to the same opportunities of which I was able to take advantage. At BLHS we work as a team to ensure ALL students succeed. Ultimately, we want every single student who walks our halls to love their experience, rise to challenges, and grow into young adults who are ready to graduate and to thrive in their next levels of training, schooling, or service. We want the same thing for every one of our students that we would want for our own children, which is to have a successful, happy, and fulfilling life beyond school. The amazing staff members at Bonney Lake High School and I work to foster an atmosphere where students feel safe, cared for, and supported. That work starts with every interaction we have, each day, with every student, staff member, or community member. I want every Panther to know that they belong at BLHS. I am proud to be the next Principal of Bonney Lake High School. I do not take the honor of serving the Bonney Lake community and your children lightly. I look forward to meeting each of you in the near future. Go Panthers!

Mr. Landon Maggs

Hello BLHS families! I’m so excited to be serving you as this year’s 11th and 12th grade administer. My journey in education started in the south end of Seattle at Rainier Beach High School where I taught Health to 9th-12th graders and coached baseball. After teaching health, I was offered the opportunity to take a position as an Academic Intervention Specialist within the building. The work was challenging but also very rewarding. I live with my girlfriend and her son in Burien but hope to move to Bonney Lake in the future.

This year will be my 3rd year at BLHS. The students, parents, and staff have made me feel so welcomed in my first 2 year. I will oversee history, science, physical education, and the health department. They are some of the most engaging and motivated teachers I have had the opportunity to work with. My main goal is to partner with families and this great community to help ensure all BLHS students leave with the skills necessary to be successful in whatever path they choose. I’m looking forward to being a member of this great community and I can’t wait to get to work.

The 2021-2022 school year will be my third year as a member of the BLHS administrative team,  but my 13th year in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District. Prior to becoming a Panther, I served our community for six years as the assistant principal at Mountain View Middle School.  I then had the honor to serve all fourteen schools in our district as the Director of Student Services between 2016-2019.  Before coming to the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District in 2010, I taught English, Reading Intervention, and Leadership in the Tahoma School District.

Prior to working in education, I worked as a social worker for at-risk youth and their families.  After 10 years of working with a broad range of children and young adults in that capacity, it became very clear to me that having a good education is the greatest equalizer for our kids and that working in education would allow me to have a bigger impact.  That was in 2001, when I went back to school to become a teacher.

Not only am I an employee of the district, I am the parent of two SBLSD students.  My son, Matthew, graduated in 2020.  My daughter is currently a ninth grader here at Bonney Lake High School.   Additionally, my husband is in his 30th year of education - all of which have been in the SBLSD.

My office is in Student Services and my door is always open!

This school year will be my 16th year in education but my first year at BLHS.  I have lived in the Bonney Lake Community for 10 years with my family and have a Kindergartener who attends in this district.

I am excited to be joining this community and serving as the 10th grade administrator.  Prior to becoming a panther I was a middle school assistant principal in the Federal Way School District.  Before transitioning into administration, I taught math, science and social studies at the middle school level.  I also was involved in coaching gymnastics and co-led a Saturday math program for young men.

I am excited to make the transition closer to home and support students and families in my home community.  Please know I am here to serve, contact me anytime.

The 2022-23 school year marks my 6th year at Bonney Lake High School. I graduated from Sumner High in 1993 and spent my college days at Western Washington University. Prior to joining the Bonney Lake Panther team, I served the Kent School District for 18 years.

Early in my career, I was a Dean of Students and math teacher at the middle school level. I then spent 14 years at Kentwood High, where I continued to teach math and was the Head Girls and Boys Soccer Coach. In my 25 seasons as a head coach, I’ve come to appreciate the hard work and dedication coaches and students have while participating in athletics and activities, as well as in the classroom. My goal for the Bonney Lake High School Athletic Department is to focus on developing athletes with character and providing student athletes with opportunities to grow and learn about themselves through their participation in sports.

I am married and have 2 girls. My wife, Tara, has supported all my endeavors and you can expect to see her at many Panther events. My oldest daughter is a 2021 BLHS graduate, while my youngest daughter is here at Bonney Lake.
