STEM Fair and Art Show Overview

  • Model the work of professional research scientists at the February 2020 District STEM Fair. Research shows that students who develop science projects learn or improve skills in scientific method and experimentation, logical thinking and problem-solving, writing and public speaking, and advanced library research.

    STEM subjects have gone through a rigorous renovation with Next Generation Science Standards and alignment among the overlapping fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  We are very proud in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District to be hosting a STEM Fair in which students can choose to enter one of the following types of projects:

    Sumner Middle School, 1508 Willow Street in Sumner
    10 a.m. - 3 p.m.



    Families and community members are invited to this free, all-district event showcasing student science projects and artwork. Hands-on science, technology, engineering and math activities will be available for all ages at this annual event, held in conjunction with the District Art Show.

    The Art Show celebrates the arts in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District with student artwork in various media including watercolor, oil, charcoal, colored pencil, mixed media and ceramics on exhibit. This year, the show will include digital photographs by middle and high school students.

    STEM Fairs give students the opportunity to model the work of professional research scientists.  Students who develop science, technology, engineering and math projects learn or improve their skills in:

    • scientific method
    • experimentation
    • logical thinking
    • problem-solving
    • writing
    • public speaking
    • advanced library research
