Community Based Transition Program
Sumner-Bonney Lake School District’s Community Based Transition Program (CBTP) teaches job skills to special education students ages 18 to 22.
To help with the transition from high school to employment, the District partners with local businesses and organizations to offer internships for CBTP students.
From making copies and collecting recycling to washing dishes and setting up for events, we’re thankful to our partners for offering these valuable opportunities that give students the skills and experience needed for a successful life after school.

Community Based Transition Program earns Silver Spoon Award
We congratulate our Community Based Transition Program (CBTP) for earning the Emergency Food Network’s Silver Spoon Award!
The reason for the honor comes from a partnership with Emergency Food Network's Mother Earth Farm. CBTP interns helped build seed trays, composted the orchard, and worked on perennial gardens. The interns’ work directly supports Mother Earth Farm’s ability to donate over 100,000 pounds of organic produce to Pierce County food banks, and through their efforts helped be a more productive place.
