Request for Records

Questions regarding SBLSD special education or 504 records or requests for copies of student special education records must be made in writing and requires proof of identification with a valid picture ID.

Records Retention Announcement

This notice is notification of Sumner Bonney Lake School District records destruction procedure per Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 392-172A-05235, “Each school district shall inform parents and adult students when personally identifiable information collected, maintained or used in compliance with this chapter is no longer needed to provide educational services to the student, or is no longer required to be retained under state or federal law.” 

Upon six (6) years from separation of special education services through the Sumner Bonney Lake School District student’s special education records will be destroyed. Examples of separation of services include, but are not limited to, graduation, no longer qualifying for services, revocation of services or no longer living within the school district boundaries.

Special education records of SBLSD students who have separated from the SBLSD special education department prior to December 31, 2017, will be destroyed as of October 10, 2023.
