Students attend Educators Rising national conference

For the first time, Bonney Lake and Sumner high school students attended the Educators Rising National Leadership Conference in Orlando this summer. Educators Rising is a Career & Technical Student Organization that supports students interested in education-related careers.

The conference provided students with opportunities to connect and learn in breakout sessions, network with members from across the country, and compete for national titles in events designed to develop and showcase their teaching skills.

Congratulations to the following students — and future educators — who participated:

BLHS

  • Jaden J. – Lesson Planning/Teaching, Humanities: Jaden planned and taught a lesson to an 8th grade English class on poetry, and analyzed her teaching and answered judges questions
  • Kamryn H. – Lesson Planning/Teaching, Arts: Kamryn planned and taught an art lesson to a 3rd grade classroom, and analyzed her teaching and answered judges questions
  • Aubrie H. – Ed Rising Moment: Aubrie gave a speech about her Ed Rising Moment, including a presentation of her "why" of pursuing a career in teaching/education
  • Lina W. – Exploring Non-Core Subject Teaching Careers: Lina gave a speech and presentation on her experience in completing an internship, job shadowing, teaching and exploration of teaching in a non-core subject

  • Ella F. – STEM Lesson Planning: Ella planned and taught a math lesson to her kindergarten internship class
  • Sophia L. – Lesson Planning, Humanities: Sophia planned and taught a history lesson to her second-grade internship class
  • Hayden L. – Public Speaking: Hayden wrote and delivered a speech on teacher retention
  • Hannah C. – Exploring Administrative Careers: Hannah shadowed a middle school principal and presented a speech reflecting on her experience
