State recognizes six SBLSD schools for student success

We’re excited to share that six schools in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District have been recognized by Washington state for student growth and achievement through the Washington School Recognition Program, an honor earned by only 16 percent of schools statewide this year.

We’re especially proud of the progress we’re seeing among student groups we’ve been intentionally supporting. These efforts are making a real difference across multiple areas and helping close achievement gaps.

These recognitions reflect the hard work and dedication of our staff to truly know, value and support every student.

Congratulations to the staff, students, and families of these recognized SBLSD schools:

  • Tehaleh Heights Elementary: Growth of students in one or more racial or ethnic groups; achievement in English Language Arts and Math
  • Lakeridge Middle School: Growth of students in one or more racial or ethnic groups
  • Maple Lawn Elementary: Growth of students in one or more racial or ethnic groups and English language learners
  • Emerald Hills Elementary: Growth of students in one or more racial or ethnic groups, English language learners, and students receiving special education services
  • Bonney Lake Elementary: Growth of students of low-income students
  • Crestwood Elementary: Growth of students in one or more racial or ethnic groups

Each year, the Washington State School Recognition Program highlights schools making strong progress in key areas of student success. All public schools in the state are eligible, and recognized schools receive a banner to display in their buildings.

The program is a partnership among the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), the State Board of Education (SBE), and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC).
