Seniors build manufacturing skills in paid internship program

Three SBLSD students spent the summer building their skills in the manufacturing and aerospace industry through an internship – and they made money while doing it.

The Core Plus Aerospace Student Development Program is a paid, on-site summer internship program for high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in advanced manufacturing. Over six weeks, they gain hands-on experience at Boeing sites in Everett, Auburn and Renton while also building skills like teamwork, communication, networking, safety, and quality that will serve them in any path they choose.

The Core Plus Aerospace Career & Technical Education classes available at Bonney Lake and Sumner high schools prep our students for the program, which requires applicants to have foundational understanding in the use of tools, being safe in a manufacturing environment, and an interest in manufacturing careers.
