Seahawks honor reading champ Kyla at Mountain View Middle

Some special Seahawks guests made a visit to Mountain View Middle School on Oct. 9 to recognize Kyla K., a seventh grader who was the top reader in the 12 Pages Summer Reading Challenge.

The Seahawks partnered with PEMCO Insurance to host the reading challenge, which is designed to keep students engaged and growing as readers during summer break. The challenge encourages kids to develop stronger reading habits, increase comprehension, and return to school ready to succeed.

As the year’s top reader, Kyla logged an incredible 13,026 minutes of reading over the summer! To celebrate her outstanding achievement, Kyla earned a custom Seahawks jersey, a game day experience, and a special school visit from the Seahawks team.

Among today’s visitors were Blitz the Seahawk and Seahawks lineman and NFC Championship hero Garry Gilliam who shared his book, the Bleacher Garden, with students. We’re so proud of Kyla and were excited to honor her alongside our Seahawks guests. It was an extra memorable day at MMS!
