SBLSD, community partners provide 1,800 students with backpacks

That wraps up our Back-to-School Grab & Go Events! Between our events on Aug. 15, 20 and 22, more than 1,800 students received backpacks and/or shoes, with 683 families receiving community resource information.

This is the largest turnout we’ve ever experienced! We want to express our deep appreciation to the dozens of community partners and volunteers who made the Family Resource Center's August events a great success. Another thank you to our donors and those offering volunteer assistance, including: Rotary Club of Sumner, Cummins, Inc. of Sumner; Pierce County Councilmember Paul Hererra's Office - Youth Violence Prevention Funds; Greater Tacoma Community Foundation; City of Sumner; City of Bonney Lake; Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, Liberty Roads Foundation, Sumner Community Food Bank, Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Association; the Moore Wright Group; Latinx Parent Leadership Council; and the Blessing Movement.

Thank you to everyone for preparing our Sumner and Bonney Lake families for an amazing start to the school year. If you or a family you know is still in need of support, please contact our Sumner-Bonney Lake Family Resource Center: 253-891-6153.
