Donald Eismann students domino, donate nearly 6K boxes of cereal
For the fourth year, students at Donald Eismann Elementary donated thousands of boxes of cereal to GoodRoots Northwest. But before their nearly 6,000 boxes go to local families in need, students and more than 20 volunteers strategically set up the cereal throughout the school building to form a domino track. The track took three hours to set up and a little over five minutes to flawlessly fall right into place one by one. Watch the full video or the shorter, exciting end in the school’s gym.
Not only does this annual effort go to a good cause, it serves a purpose for the students who take part. This year, the school’s second and third grade teams led the cereal donation project. Other grades have taken on other projects, learning the value of servant leadership to their community and the fulfilling ownership aspect of such service initiatives.
BTW: You might have seen someone taped to the back gym wall. DEE Instructional Coach Brittney Schneider took one for the team to be taped up after students met the challenge to bring in 500 cereal boxes in one day.
