Bond Oversight Committee releases first annual report

The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District’s Bond Oversight Committee (BOC) has released its first Annual Report to the Community, highlighting strong progress and responsible management of the 2024 bond program.

The 12-member, community-based committee meets quarterly to review budgets, timelines and project progress, helping ensure transparency and careful use of taxpayer dollars.

Highlights from the report:

  • Progress: Planning and design are underway for all projects, with construction on track to begin as scheduled. Three projects will break ground this summer: Donald Eismann Elementary (turf field and parking), Sumner High (Phase 2), and Bonney Lake High (expansion and intersection improvements).
  • Finances: Spending is on track with strong planning in place to manage inflation and construction costs. $9.1 million spent as of January 2026; 24% of bonds sold (total authorization $732 million); bonds are issued gradually to help maintain stable tax rates.
  • Timelines: Each project has a timeline for elements of planning, design, permitting, bidding and construction. Nearly all projects are under design contract, with design progressing, permits submitted or secured and procurement processes running smoothly.
