Sumner High School is currently at 97% capacity. 

Many portions of SHS are old and outdated, with systems requiring increased maintenance. 

Proposition 1 would make districtwide improvements, including rebuilding and expanding Sumner High School to be a modern, safe and ADA-compliant facility. 

SHS-specific improvements through Prop. 1

  • New Performing Arts Center, gym and pool

  • New CTE labs and band room

  • Wider hallways for increased safety and accessibility 

  • Multi-use, lighted turf fields for baseball, fastpitch and soccer

  • Lighted tennis courts

  • Increased parking

Current condition: Pool has outlived its useful life and is functionally outdated; uneven, settling floors; an older boiler; cracks in the pool; an inoperable warm-water pool, an inoperable diving platform; the pool is not competition compliant to host meets or water polo
