Sumner-Bonney Lake School District seeks volunteers for committee to write for and against statements regarding upcoming bond measure

The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District is seeking citizens who are interested in writing “for” or “against” statements for inclusion in the Pierce County Voters’ Pamphlet. The statements relate to the District’s upcoming bond measure, Proposition 1: Bonds for K-12 Expanded Student Capacity, School Improvements and Safety Upgrades, that will appear on the Nov. 5, 2024, ballot.

The Pierce County Elections Division requires that Sumner-Bonney Lake School District appoint persons known to favor the measure to serve on the “for” committee, and also to appoint persons known to oppose the measure to serve on the “against” committee.

Individuals from the community who wish to participate on either committee should email their name, mailing address, phone number and email address to communications@sumnersd.org by 5 p.m. on July 19.

The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District Board of Directors will take action on the appointments at the July 24 Special Board Meeting. The District will notify successful candidates of their committee appointments on July 24, and provide instructions on the statement requirements and deadlines.
