Thank you to the 650 visitors who joined us for the annual Community Cultural Celebration on March 28, where guests explored the different cultures that make up our district and community.

Event attendees learned about different cultures at interactive booths, explored beautiful artwork, and sampled international foods like Turkish Delight, gimbap and pho.

Performers showcased various dances, skills, and poetry, including a Samoan dance by Bonney Lake High School Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Club; a poetry reading by Sumner High Latino Student Union; a Great Indian Desert Dance by students from Donald Eismann Elementary, Tehaleh Heights Elementary, Emerald Hills Elementary and Mountain View Middle School; a Tinikling dance by Sumner High AAPI Club; a BLHS students Mongolian dance; Sumner High School Black Student Union step dance; a Chamorro song by a BLHS student; an Indian classical dance by a DEE student; and a martial arts demonstration.

Kaitlyn Chase, second grade teacher and equity lead at Donald Eismann Elementary, was awarded this year's SBLSD Impact Award for her work supporting multilingual learners. Kaitlyn leads with clarity, care, and a deep belief in collective responsibility. Her work is making a lasting impact across our district.
