Community Relations
Distribution of Materials
The Board recognizes that organizations may want to distribute materials to students, families, and staff using physical and electronic resources. The District is legally committed to using its public resources, including communications systems, to pursue its educational mission and provide equal access to organizations based on their alignment with the educational mission.
Any nonprofit group wishing to distribute informational material must first submit, to the superintendent or a designee, a copy of the material and a statement of the educational value the program provides to students.
All printed materials, papers, signs, leaflets, flyers, and brochures, electronic messages, yard signs, reader-board messages, live presentations or any other request to distribute information from nonprofit organizations must be approved by the superintendent or his/her designee prior to distribution.
Student and District employee organizations are considered school agencies for the purpose of this policy.
The primary purpose of the standard is to prevent the exploitation of students by individuals or groups.
It is the responsibility of the superintendent, in conjunction with the building principals to draft procedures regarding this policy.
