Assessment of Health Needs
To obtain maximum benefits from educational opportunities a student must enjoy good health. Student health should be appraised frequently, both formally and informally. The objectives of health appraisal are to:
1. Assure effectiveness of the student as a member of the school community.
2. Inform the student, parents, and school personnel of the student’s health status.
3. Assure the student’s ability to benefit from educational opportunities.
4. Identify needed adjustments of the school’s environment for the instructional program to provide for the student’s individual needs.
5. Emphasize to students, parents and teachers the need for life-long programs for healthful living.
To assist the school in meeting these objectives, individual and group screening for health needs shall be conducted in accordance with district policy and procedures and State regulations.
