Planning for your future
Career pathways engage students in dynamic learning while preparing them for success in postsecondary education and training, careers, and life.
Our goal is to prepare students to live an independent and successful life through classes and opportunities that expose, explore and experience diverse career paths.
Sumner-Bonney Lake School District strives to ensure that all students and families:
- Understand the value in developing and utilizing a clear definition of college, career, and life readiness for youth and adult learners
- Plan for postsecondary education and careers
- Use workforce trends and analysis, examining where the U.S. workforce is headed and identifying the sectors likely to experience growth when planning for their future
In elementary school, the focus is on exposure to a variety of future careers through career days, play, children’s literature and connections to instruction.
At the middle school level, the goal is exploration. Students are offered a variety of electives, particularly in high demand, high pay areas to help inform future areas of concentration in high school.
At high school students participate in experiences to deepen their understanding. These include elective courses, internships, job shadows, and high school and beyond planning.
