April 30, 2019 Meeting
The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District’s Sumner High School Project Review Task Force met for its third meeting on Tuesday, April 30th. The Task Force was convened, in light of state and local circumstances, to review, study and evaluate the High School modernization and expansion project.
At the third meeting, the Task Force continued its review and evaluation of the Master Plan concepts, to be built out in phases, developed by Hainline, the construction management firm hired by the District to assist the Task Force’s review and evaluation. The Initial Phase of the concepts would implement the goals of the 2016 Capital Projects Bond, including needed additional classrooms, a new commons and kitchen, a new library, and improved circulation in the High School. Each concept also included a Master Plan to evaluate the Initial Phase in relationship to future buildout, including potential facilities. The Task Force also considered different timelines for planning and construction of facilities under a Master Plan and supported separate bond funding to complete future buildout under a Master Plan.
Based upon guidance from the Task Force at the third meeting, Hainline will provide final revisions to the preferred concepts. At the fourth and final meeting, the Task Force will continue to develop and will finalize their recommendations to the Superintendent, based upon the changed circumstances since passage of the bond, for a path forward for modernization and expansion of Sumner High School.
