BLHS FCCLA and Robotics Create Partnership to Help Children in The Community
In partnership with the Children’s Therapy Unit (CTU), the BLHS FCCLA Club and Robotics Team joined forces to create a tool that would increase the mobility of children at CTU. The goal was to build something to help give mobility to those children with physical disorders at a low cost. FCCLA and Robotics aimed to create a motorized platform prototype that a non-mobilized wheelchair can be secured to.
FCCLA partnered with our Robotics program to research, design and build a platform in partnership with CTU who funded and gave the parameters for the motorized platform. Robotics shared their knowledge of building tools, programming and technology. FCCLA shared their knowledge of child development and disabilities when we were making the prototype and designing of the motorized platform.
