We congratulate Laurie Sjolund, who has been named Assistant Principal of the District’s new Early Learning Center (ELC). Laurie has worked in our District for 15 years in the positions of PE Teacher, Kindergarten Teacher, Early Learning Coordinator and most recently as Elementary Program Administrator.
Laurie, who is currently participating in Washington State University’s Educational Leadership Principal Certification Program, holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, a master’s in Education-Early Childhood and a P-3 Executive Leadership Certificate.
Laurie, and her husband, Steve, live in Bonney Lake. Their daughter, Emma, is a freshman at Northern Arizona University, where she participates in track and cross country. Their son, Adam, is a senior at Sumner High School. In Laurie’s spare time, she enjoys hiking, skiing and spending time at Lake Roosevelt. Fun fact: Laurie is an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
The Early Learning Center is anticipated to open Fall 2019, welcoming 250 preschool and kindergarten students. Staffing for the ELC will happen in early Spring.
