The Sumner School District provides both small group and classroom instruction and support to students who may have difficulty learning due to a language barrier. ANNUAL MEASURABLE ACHIEVEMENT FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS
The “No Child Left Behind Act” requires families of English Language Learners (ELL) participating in Transitional Bilingual Instructional Programs (TBIP) and/or Title III programs to be notified each year of Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives for the District. There were three targets identified:- Target #1: Annual increases in number or percentage of children making progress in learning English.
61% of students are deemed as making progress (target = 66%) - Target #2: Annual increases in the number or percentage of children attaining English proficiency.
4.2% of students are deemed as attaining proficiency (target = 12.7%) - Target #3: The number or percentage of ELL students meeting AYP targets in reading and math on state assessments met target.
