Advanced Placement

  • The Sumner School District offers an Advanced Placement Program at Bonney Lake High School that gives students the opportunity to take high rigor, college level courses where they can earn college credit or place out of lower-level college courses in high school.

Internationally recognized, the AP program is the largest and most recognized rigorous academic program with 4,135,962 AP tests taken by high school students in 2014.  The AP program continues to grow at Bonney Lake High School with new classes being added each year.  Students passing more than 5 AP classes earn the distinction of AP Scholar.  Some of the benefits to taking an AP class are:
    • Earn college credit or place out of lower-level college courses
    • Real college-level work while still in high school
    • Prepares students for the academic rigor of advanced high school classes and college
    • Challenges students with academic rigor and helps them learn time management and study skills – both needed to be successful in college
    • AP classes stand out in College Admissions
    • AP classes are connected to and prepare students for post-high school Career Pathways
    • College Board approved, highly-qualified teachers with the skill set to support students and help them achieve high scores on AP tests
