  • Winter Weather

    Winter may bring weather conditions that require school schedule delays or closure. Even when road conditions in the valley appear passable, bad weather on the hill often causes hazardous driving conditions and impacts the district's ability to operate buses safely.

    Model the work of professional research scientists at the February 2018 District STEM Fair. Each school will send first, second, and third place entries in addition to two honorable mention entries per grade level on to the District Science Fair.

    The Sumner School District is revising boundaries to create an attendance area for the District’s new elementary school and to address increased enrollment. Boundary changes will be effective for the 2018-19 school year.

Register for School

  • Welcome to the Sumner School District! With a strong pledge to serve children and their families, rigorous academics and learning initiatives ensure a quality education for every child making the SSD a great place to learn! The District serves families residing in the cities of Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Pacific and Sumner, and unincorporated areas of Pierce County. Residency verification is required at time of enrollment.

Involvement in these programs and activities are an excellent way for students to meet people, grow connected to the Sumner High School community, demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Many universities, colleges, scholarship committees, apprenticeship programs, and employers value student experiences in extracurricular activities.
