  • 2018-19 Attendance Waiver Window: Jan. 2-31

    Resident students who wish to attend a school other than their resident school must complete the In-District Waiver Application. In-District Waiver Applications are not required each year for continued attendance unless transitioning to another school.

  • Kindergarten Kickoff Events: Registration Begins Feb. 5

    Attend a Kindergarten Kickoff Event in late January to learn more about kindergarten in the Sumner School District and receive a registration packet. Packets will be available at all elementary schools and online beginning Feb. 5.

  • All District Highly Capable Referral Period: Jan. 8-26

    Does your child perform at significantly advanced academic levels when compared with others? Consider referring them for Highly Capable Services by submitting a referral packet Jan. 8-26.

  • Now Available: STEM Fair Project Packets

    Model the work of professional research scientists at the February 2018 District STEM Fair. Each school will send first, second, and third place entries in addition to two honorable mention entries per grade level on to the District Science Fair.

Early Learning

  • Early Learning
    One of the core values in the Sumner School District is a commitment to early learning and development. The district offers a variety of resources to ensure that children are ready for success in school as soon as they enter Kindergarten. During the first 5 years of life, the brain develops at a rapid rate. Early connections provide the foundation for later skills and knowledge. Responsive relationships are essential for learning. Access to high-quality, early learning opportunities can close the achievement gap and set all children on a trajectory for success.
     

Register for School

  • Welcome to the Sumner School District! With a strong pledge to serve children and their families, rigorous academics and learning initiatives ensure a quality education for every child making the SSD a great place to learn! The District serves families residing in the cities of Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Pacific and Sumner, and unincorporated areas of Pierce County. Residency verification is required at time of enrollment.

    Sumner School District welcomes and encourages parents and community members to actively participate in student learning through volunteering in schools. The community-teacher-student-family relationship is an important part of ensuring success for all students, every day. All prospective volunteers must complete a volunteer application using the Sumner School District online Employment Application system.
