Levy dollars provide students with services and materials that are critical to student success, including textbooks, transportation, extra-curricular activities, device replacements and upgrades to technology infrastructure.
Resident students who wish to attend a school other than their resident school must complete the In-District Waiver Application. In-District Waiver Applications are not required each year for continued attendance unless transitioning to another school.
Model the work of professional research scientists at the February 2018 District STEM Fair. Each school will send first, second, and third place entries in addition to two honorable mention entries per grade level on to the District Science Fair.
The Sumner School District is revising boundaries to create an attendance area for the District’s new elementary school and to address increased enrollment. Boundary changes will be effective for the 2018-19 school year.

The District serves families residing in the cities of Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Pacific and Sumner, and unincorporated areas of Pierce County. Residency verification is required at time of enrollment.
Students will be assessed an athletic participation fee to help offset the rising costs of extracurricular staff, coaches, officials and transportation. Athletes pay a fee for each sport in which they participate during each season. This fee will be reduced for students who qualify for the free and reduced-price lunch program. The middle school charge will be per sport and can be found on the district website. To find the most current fees go to the district web site, under the student and Family services tab you will go to Athletics, and then participation fees. If you choose to pay a yearly fee that is also listed and must be paid prior to October 1.
The SMS ASB is the representative student government organization at SMS. The Student Council is composed of elected officers who meet regularly to make decisions about student activities such as dances, clubs, assemblies and other facets of student life at SMS.
