The Transportation Department employs over 85 people dedicated to the
safe transportation of students. It is our # 1 priority.
Our buses travel over 650,000 miles each year, transporting over 4,000
students each day. Each year a safety team from The Washington State Patrol
inspects our buses. Sumner has received an "Outstanding" rating
for the past 10 years. This reflects the dedication and the skills of
our mechanics.
Using a "Winnie the Pooh" program to teach safe bus riding
rules to kindergarten classes each fall is an activity that our driver
trainers enjoy. We believe that we should employ every means possible
to insure a child's safety while on our buses.
