Women's Slide and Pump Fitness Class

Coed Beach Volleyball 4 x 4 League - 5th Annual
This is an extension of our popular Indoor "Call Your Own" league. Teams will consist of 2 men and 2 women (but you may have up to 12 players on your roster). Teams will play 12 matches (typically two per night). Games will be to 21 with players switching sides every 7 points. We must have a minimum of 6 teams for the league to run. Registration deadline is Friday, June 28

    Cost: $150 - 80% or more Sumner/Bonney Lake residents, $175 - 20% or less Sumner/Bonney Lake residents

Adult Summer Rec Coed Soccer
Players must be 18+ and out of high school. Six weeks of fun playing in the sun! Come enjoy a relaxed and fun, short summer season and stay in shape for the fall season. Games will be held mid-week so all can enjoy the summer weekends. Games begin the week of July 8. Limited to the first 10 teams to register.

Men's Summer Friday Night Slowpitch League
Players must be 18+ and out of high school. Teams will play 8 league games on local fields beginning Friday, June 28. There will be a seven team maximum. A $100 deposit will hold your spot until the registration deadline. Games will be officiated by USSSA officials.

Men's 4 on 4 Call Your Own Basketball League
Teams will play eight league games on Monday and/or Tuesday evenings starting at the end of May. There will be two 20-minute running clock halves. Teams must have the same color jerseys with numbers. Games will be played during the week at local gyms. Teams may not have any current college players and all players must be over 18 and out of high school. Minimum of six teams.

    League Fees: $185 - 80% Sumner/Bonney Lake residents, $195 - Less than 80% Sumner/Bonney Lake residents

Adult Summer Coed Slowpitch League
Players must be 18+ and out of high school. Teams will play 8 league games on local fields beginning the week of July 8. Two divisions will be offered: Competitive and Recreational with a 28-team maximum. A $100 deposit will hold your spot until the registration deadline. Games will be played on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday - teams may select their night of preference at time of registration. Officiated by USSSA officials.

Sumner/Bonney Lake Aquatics is making a splash this summer with a great selection of programs. Pee Wee Volleyball - 4th Annual
This is a fun program for children ages 5-8. There are two divisions offered: ages 5/6 and ages 7/8. Short nets and a large, soft ball will be used. Score is not kept and the emphasis of this program is on fun. Practices are held on Saturday afternoons, 6/1 & 6/8. Practice times are determined by the coaches. Six games will be played on Saturday afternoons from 6/15 through 7/27.

Kidz Love Soccer Classes - Ages 2-10
Learn the fundamentals of soccer through age-appropriate, imagery-based play in a recreational format. Develop large motor skills and socialization skills. Please note this is a skills class and not a league with games. Parent participation required for Mommy/Daddy & Me class. Shin guards required after first class for all classes except Mommy, Daddy & Me. Skillz and Scrimmages class offers advanced skill building in a team play format.. Roach Tumbling & Gymnastics - Ages 1-12
Roach Gymnastic coaches oversee and instruct safe, fun, high quality gymnastics with the goal to make each child feel better walking out the door than when they walked in. Attire should be free of zippers.

Tots: (Ages 1-2) This fun-loving, high energy program teaches body awareness and coordination through music, scarves, bean bags and movement exploration while incorporating a monthly theme. Parent participation required. Min. 4 Max. 10
Preschool: (Age 3) This class is designed to work on social skills, following a FUN obstacle course and listening to directions while having lots of fun. Class helps children use their imagination while incorporating a monthly theme. Min. 4 Max. 8
Pre-K: (Ages 4 & 5) Children learn to grow basic gymnastics skills as they follow an obstacle course, have lots of fun while incorporating a monthly theme. Coach assisted skills. Min. 4 Max. 8
Youth: (Ages 6-12) Learn basic gymnastics including cartwheels, and handstands in a fun, safe environment. Each apparatus will be taught during a session. Each week will have a new skill of focus. Those with previous experience continue to develop their skills. Min. 4 Max. 10

Score is not kept and the emphasis of this program is on fun. Players play a modified t-ball/coach pitch format. Cleats and gloves not provided. Practices are held on Saturdays, 6/22 & 6/29. Practice times are determined by coaches. Six games are played on Saturdays from 7/13 through 8/24.

Sports Performance Clinic - Ages 14-18
Are you an athlete who wants an edge? Learn the psychology of sports and how to become a tougher competitor and increase your overall performance while enjoying the game. Instructor Shauna Sheppard, MSOP is a Sports Performance Specialist with 20 years of coaching experience. Min. 10

Off Broadway - Ages 6-11
Join the cast of a mini musical. All participants will sing, act and dance on stage. A final performance occurs the last 30 minutes of the last day of each session. Instructor Judy Kurtz Shufelt has a Bachelor's degree in fine arts and is a certified K-12 teacher. Min. 10

RATS! The town of Hamlin is over run with rats and the citizens are in a tizzy - until the mysterious Pied Piper appears, The Pied Piper offers to solve their dilemma for a small fee. Performance will be held at 4:00 PM on August 23.

Parents are invited back for the last 30 minutes of class for a presentation/discussion. Min. 8

Babysitting Classes - Ages 11-16
Come for a day of fun while learning the important babysitting skills to earn your Red Cross Babysitter Certification card. Get some great ideas for your own Super Sitters kit full of games and activities. Bring a sack lunch and snack to class. Min. 8

Raise A Racquet Tennis Camp! Boys & Girls Ages 8-18
Tennis anyone? Here is a great opportunity to learn the basics of tennis in this very popular camp. Turn out this summer with Sumner High School Varsity Head Boys Coach, Chris Heacox! Chris is in his 12th season as Head Coach. Coach Heacox has been honored as Coach of the Year and has won multiple league championships. Prior to teaching and coaching in the Sumner School District, Chris was a private instructor at the Sprinker Tennis Center and has extensive experience working with players of all ages and levels. Camp is for players of all levels. Game play days are optional but give players a chance to try their skills in a tournament format. Please bring a tennis racquet and water bottle to class. Sumner Tennis Academy - Ages 5-12 and Adults
Tennis anyone? Join Chris Heacox, Sumner High School Varsity Tennis Coach, and learn the fundamentals of tennis or just improve your skills. Chris has extensive experience working with players of all ages and levels. Participants ages 5-12 will have lessons Monday-Friday. Adults will have lessons Monday through Thursday and Friday is a game night. Game night allows players to try their skills in a tournament format. Lessons are for players of all levels. 8th Annual Grand Slam Baseball & Fastpitch Softball Camps
The Sumner/Bonney Lake Recreation Department has teamed up again with Grand Slam, a non-profit organization whose philosophy is to teach, reinforce and insist on the fundamentals of baseball, as well as to provide positive role models in a safe, upbeat and FUN environment. The Camp Staff is the Grand Slam Organization's asset. The coaches are high school coaches, former professionals and current college players! The Coach-to-Camper ratio is 9 to 1 in the 'Complete Camp', and in the 'Skills Camp' the ratio is a personal 6 to 1. Each camper receives a Grand Slam Camp T-Shirt. If attending both camps, the campers will be well supervised between camps. Please provide a sack lunch and plenty to drink.

    Complete Camp (ages 7-12) covers the entire game: pitching, catching, batting, bunting, base running, infield and outfield. A lot of Baseball/Softball

3rd Annual Lacrosse Camp Ages 5-11
Join Camp Director/Instructor Bolton Lancaster and learn how to play the fastest growing sport in the country! In this five-day camp, players will learn and improve on the fundamentals of lacrosse, such as how to cradle, scoop, pass, catch and shoot. Kids will be divided into groups based on age. Bring a water bottle and wear weather appropriate clothing. Lacrosse sticks, balls and a full set of equipment will be provided for use during class for $10 (paid directly to coach). T-Shirt included.

UK International Soccer Camp- Ages 4-14

Session 1: "Fun in the Sun" for ages 4 to 6 is an introduction to soccer. Learn basic skills and the fundamentals of soccer. This camp is half day session only.
Session 2: "Skills n' Thrills" for ages 7 to 10 enhances technical skill building and development along with attacking and defending. Choose from either a half day or full day session of this camp.
Session 3: "Compete with Feet" for ages 11 to 14 is geared for developing players both technically and tactically including improving decision making skills. Choose from either a half day or full day session of this camp. Bring a ball, shin guards, snack or lunch and bottle of water.

Spartan Soccer Camp for Boys & Girls Ages 5-12
This fun camp is run by Sumner High School Head Girls Soccer Coach, Robi Turley, assistant coaches Lindsay Smith and Lisa Murray, along with current and former SHS soccer players. Coach Turley just finished her 8th year as Head Coach for the Sumner Spartans and was named SPSL 2A State "Coach of the Year". Last season the Lady Sparts soccer team was the SPSL 2A League Champions, State Champions and finished the season with a perfect 21-0-0. The camp goal is to help each player improve their soccer abilities through individual and group instruction while having fun! Passing, dribbling, shooting, defending and attacking are emphasized. Players are divided into groups by age, size and ability. Please wear tennis or turf shoes, dress for the weather and bring lots of water. T-shirt included.

All American Volleyball Camp for Girls - Grades 9-12
All American Volleyball has been running camps for the past 20 years and has a great reputation for giving a great value to its participants! The coaches, who are present and former college and professional women volleyball players, are some of the best volleyball players in the country who will challenge players in a college type training experience. Camp will give three days of excellent training and mentorship. Lunch/dinner time supervision provided. Please bring a sack lunch. All American Volleyball Camp T-shirt is included. Join Bonney Lake High School Varsity Volleyball Coach Shirley Baker, her assistant coaches and players from the BLHS Volleyball team for a great volleyball experience. The youngest players will receive personalized instruction in the fundamental skills of passing, setting and serving. More advanced players will build on these skills, in addition to an introduction to higher levels of offensive and defensive systems. The primary goal of the camp is to have fun while receiving expert instruction that will help all players advance to the next level of competition.

Boys and girls entering grades K through 6th can join Sumner High School Head Football Coach Keith Ross, his staff and current Spartan football players to learn proper techniques and valuable leadership skills. Positive, enthusiastic instruction provided for all levels of athletes. For campers with more experience, coaches will work on more advanced training on both offense and defense. 3rd Annual Spartan Skills & Drills Wrestling Camp
Join Sumner High School Head Wrestling Coach Matt Harshman and his staff including camp clinicians Ty Watterson, Jonathan Gilbertson and Matt Holt. Gain knowledge and skills of the basic fundamentals of high school wrestling. Camp is for all levels; beginners will be introduced to the sport and advanced wrestlers will have the opportunity for more mat time. Athletes will also be introduced to strength and conditioning. Attire: Shorts, T-Shirt and wrestling shoes, if possible. Sneakers are also acceptable. Camp is for Grades 6-12.

7th Annual Sumner High School Basketball Camp
Boys and girls entering grades K through 8th can join Sumner High School Head Boys Basketball Coach Brett McDaniel and his staff for a basketball camp that is sure to leave your child excited and loving the game of basketball. This camp is fun, fast moving and interactive with lots of fun contests and games mixed in. Campers learn primary fundamentals, shooting mechanics, ball handling, passing and defense. 5th Annual Difference Makers Basketball College
Camp is geared towards players wanting to compete at the highest levels. Players will build on the fundamentals and be introduced to higher levels of offensive and defensive systems. Coaches include Sumner High School Head Basketball Coach Brett McDaniel, Evergreen State Head Coach Chris Mosley, former professional player Chris Hyppa and Tony Callero who has over 25 years as a coach, player and youth camp director. This is not a "camp" for beginners or players who are not committed to the game and thus, the reason it is called a College.

Spartan Junior Cheer & Stunt Camp - Grades K - 8
Join Spartan Cheer Coach Meek and the Spartan Cheer Squad to learn cheerleading basics! This fun camp includes routines, jumps, chanting, stunting and tumbling. Girls and boys are welcome! Attire: Tennis shoes, shorts or athletic pants and hair tied back in a pony tail. Please bring a daily snack and water. Includes T-Shirt.

Seussical Jr. Summer Theatre Camp - Ages 6-18
Join Jay and Brenda Henson, along with some special guests, and perform Seussical Jr. during Summer Theatre Camp! We are excited to partner with ManeStage Theatre Company to offer theatre intensive training in acting, improv, performance, voice, dance and auditions. This unique summer camp will assist developing and improving the skills and techniques needed for quality musical theatre. Campers will be divided by age; ages 6-12 and ages 13-18. Class is for beginning through advanced students! Limited spots available. Registration deadline: July 15

22nd Annual Action Day Camp for Grades K through 6!
Join in on a summer of fun! Register now for our Action Day Camp at Robert Miller Gym and Sumner Middle School! Grades K-2 will be at Robert Miller Gym and grades 3-6 at Sumner Middle School. Besides being fun, camp offers organized activities, arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor games, movies, swimming, bike days and field trips. Your child will be well-supervised by experienced counselors who are First Aid/CPR & WSP certified.
Each week of camp has a theme which carries over to a field trip and activities. Field trips include: Pt. Defiance Zoo, Tiffany's Skate Inn in Puyallup, Odyssey 1 in Tacoma, Daffodil Bowl, Stewart Heights Pool in Tacoma, NW Trek and more! A t-shirt is required for field trip days. T-shirt cost: $10.
An afternoon snack is provided. No microwave or refrigerator available.

    Weekly Cost: $125 except week #3 ($105)

Roach Gymnastics Camp - Ages 4-12
If your child loves gymnastics and having lots of fun - then this camp is sure to please! Join the Roach Gymnastics coaches for a cruise around the world, learning gymnastics, playing games and making crafts. Campers will learn a gymnastics routine to perform at the end of the week for parents. Attire: Girls should wear shorts/T-shirts or leotard and boys fitted shorts and T-shirt.

Off Broadway Camp - Ages 6-11
Join the cast of a mini musical. All participants will sing, act and dance on stage. Instructor Judy Kurtz Shufelt has a Bachelor's degree in fine arts and is a certified K-12 teacher. Min. 10

The Jungle Book: You are invited on a musical adventure with Mowgli. With the help of his friends - Baloo the bear, Bagheera the panther and Kaa the python - Mowgli learns about "Jungle Law" and how to survive in the jungle along with Shere Khan the tiger. Performance will be held at 3:00 PM on July 19. Registration deadline: July 1

Gymnastics Summer Camp - Girls & Boys Grades K-12
If your child loves to run and jump around the house, this camp is for you! No experience is necessary, beginner and advanced gymnasts welcome! Join Coaches Kimmie Marton and Karrie Marton for basic instruction on vault, uneven bars, balance beam, dance and tumbling skills. Emphasis is on fun and safety. Please bring a light snack and water each day. Parents are invited to attend a demonstration on the final day from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Don't forget your camera!

Summer Select Basketball for Boys & Girls
Coaches form their own teams for this competitive summer basketball league for students in grades 5-8 (2013-14 school year). League is combined with the Puyallup Recreation Department. Eight league games are played weeknight evenings starting the week of June 17. Teams must provide their own uniforms. Registration is by team only, no individual registrations. 6th Annual Coach Pitch League - Grades 1 and 2
In this coed program, coaches pitch to their own players. Teams are grouped by request and by school as much as possible. Eight games will be played on local fields on week nights with 6:00 PM or 7:15 PM start times beginning in early July. Practices begin in late June and are determined by the coach. Interested in sponsoring a team? Sponsors are needed at a cost of $200 per team. Cleats and gloves not provided.

    Cost: $50 per participant,
    $55 non-resident participants

2nd Annual Girls Fastpitch Softball League - Grades 3-6
Two separate leagues are offered: 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade. Teams are grouped by request and by school as much as possible. Games will be played on local fields on week nights with 6:00 PM or 7:30 PM start times. Practice schedule will be determined by coach. Teams will play eight games between July 8 and August 30. Interested in sponsoring a team? Sponsors are needed at a cost of $200 per team.

Before & After School Child Care Program for the 2013-2014 School Year
Enroll your child(ren) in our program for this fall! This program is designed for children Grades K-5 (full time Kindergarten only) and serves all elementary schools in the Sumner School District. It is a fun and safe environment for children before and/or after school that focuses on arts & crafts, organized games, homework/study time, cooperative play and many other activities. Afternoon snack provided.

You can make a difference and make some great memories for your child at the same time. Many youth in our community are unable to participate in youth sports due to financial reasons. Please consider donating to our hardship fund . . . every donation makes a difference. This fund directly benefits youth within our community.
