Senior Class Year-End Schedule and Graduation Information

This communication is to inform seniors and their parents of important events during the final days of the 2011-2012 school year.  Please keep this memo as a reminder.  If you have any questions, please call the school at 253-891-5500.

2012 Sumner High School Graduation Videos
Cameras:
We will have multiple cameras covering Sumner’s Commencement Day at the White River Amphitheater. All Kids will be covered as they receive their diplomas.     

What will be on the DVD’s:      

• Opening Ceremonies as the students walk in.
• All Speeches
• Special Awards
• All music that is played

Custom Jewel Cases & DVD’s:

• All DVD Jewel Cases will have the students Name, Class, School, Commencement Date, Location of Commencement & Special Honors or Awards on the Front Cover. The Back Cover will have random pictures of Commencement.
• All DVD’s will have a custom label, with the Students Name, Class, School, Location of Commencement and the date of Commencement .

All DVD’s should be mailed out to the address provided in about 5 to 7 weeks from date of Graduation.

Cap and Gown Distribution
Cap and Gowns will be distributed at the school during lunches on May 30. Seniors who have not ordered a Cap and Gown can still do so by going to www.hjgraduation.com.

Each year the staff members of Sumner High School are proud to nominate students for Senior Showcase.  This year they have selected students who have demonstrated excellence and growth. Our theme this year was based on the acronym of SPARTAN.

We applaud these students who have displayed attitudes and actions that confirm they truly are Spartans.

Showcase Program

Senior Spotlight
Senior Spotlight is published by the Guidance Office several times a year to provide information about scholarships, college visits, SAT and ACT test dates and more. Print copies are located in the Student File in the Guidance Office.

Culminating Senior Project: Class of 2012
We are currently in the process of streamlining the Culminating Senior Project for the Class of 2012 and beyond. With changing high school graduation requirements and the increased rigor of the High School and Beyond Plan, it is important to review Sumner School District's model for Culminating Senior Project. This program review will ensure compliance with all state requirements for graduation while assessing the broader educational experience and academic expectations for seniors.

Due to an anticipated reduction in hours required for the project portion of the Culminating portfolio, students will no longer need to exercise the Early Start option previously offered to students. Juniors will learn more information about the revised Culminating Senior Project in Advisory later this spring.
