Are you moving?
Planning has already begun for the 2012/2013 school year. It is important we have accurate enrollment  information. If you are moving or think you might be leaving the area, we would appreciate having this information as soon as possible. Please call the Maple Lawn office at 253.891.4400 to let us know if your child will not be attending Maple Lawn next year.

Online Learning Resources
Maple Lawn has wonderful online educational tools kids can access from home every day of the week. The two tools students can access from home are IXL Math and Raz-Kids Reading.

IXL is a comprehensive online math program that gives students the opportunity to practice math skills at their level. Even better, IXL automatically tracks student progress and displays proficiency scores.
These reports allow you to quickly evaluate your child's performance and identify trouble spots.

Encourage your child to practice their math skills by using IXL the login address is: https://www.ixl.com/signin/sumner, or click the button on our Web page. Students will enter their username and password to access their account. If you are unsure what your child's username and/or password is, please contact their teacher.

Raz-Kids is an online interactive reading program with downloadable books and quizzes. Raz-Kids is already available for all K-2 students at Liberty Ridge. The response to this new program has been overwhelmingly positive. Kids and parents are enjoying the program. Students in grades 3-5 will be able to access their Raz-Kids account in the next few weeks. If you have any questions just ask your child’s teacher for more information.

Weather Related School Make-Up Days
At this time there have been four days of school closure due to weather. Those four make-up days have been scheduled;
May 25: K-12 School Day
May 29: K-12 School Day
June 20: K-12 School Day
June 21: K-12 School Day (half-day early dismissal at 11:40 a.m. for the last day of school.)

Full-time Kindergarten Program
Maple Lawn offers a tuition-based, full-time kindergarten program on a space available basis.
Full-time kindergarten students attend school every day and have the same school calendar as students in grades 1-5. Students enrolled in full-time kindergarten receive extra instruction time to learn basic skills for first grade.

Monthly full-time kindergarten tuition rates for the 2012-2013 are $325.00.

Lost and found
Our lost and found is overflowing with coats and sweatshirts. If your child is missing a clothing item, please have them look through the lost and found box located in the hallway across from the office.

Volunteer Application Now Online
The Sumner School District has a new online volunteer application process. All volunteers are encouraged to complete the online application before May 1. The application is linked from our school Web page by clicking on Volunteer Information.
The process should take approximately twenty minutes. To apply as a volunteer, please complete the following steps:

  • Fill out the online application; please be sure to complete your profile and checklist.
  • Complete the items in the checklist, including the mandatory disclosure. A State Patrol background check is conducted on all volunteer applicants.
  • Once approved, all volunteers must annually resubmit an application to volunteer.

If you need help scanning documents to upload or access to a computer, please call Human Resources at 253.891.6025, or stop by the school office for assistance. Thanks so much for your willingness to serve the students of the Sumner School District.

New Bobcat Night for current 5th graders
Sumner Middle School would like to invite fifth graders and their parents to the "New Bobcat Night" at Sumner Middle School on May 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Parents and students will have an opportunity to make class requests for next year, as well as attend sessions on academic support programs and student/campus life at Sumner Middle School. We look forward to meeting our new Bobcats on May 21!
