Skylert Notifications
The District and all schools now have capability to send notifications about attendance, general messages and emergency alerts by phone, e-mail or text messages. All families should log on to Family Access to update their contact information and select preferred messages. Families will choose the phone number to which general and emergency messages will be sent (home, work or cell phone), with additional options for the message to also be sent by e-mail or text.
Preparing for Winter Weather
Winter weather brings road and driving conditions that might result in school delays or closures. Safety for your child is our primary concern. When winter weather impacts specific areas of the district, Limited Bus Transportation service areas may be announced. We try to make information available about school closure or changes to the school schedule by 5 a.m. Families should remember to check the Web site or call the District Hotline at 891.6001 for updated information about school operations.
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Lakeridge Family:
It was “only” a week of snow, ice, no power, no phones, no heat, and no homework. Yet, we are certain for many families, it seemed like a much greater amount of time. We trust, of course, all is well with your family. Remember, help from our counselors Mary-Hope Lakin and Mari Lysne (and their resources) are just a telephone call or e-mail away.
A couple of years ago, the citizens on the design team for the new Lakeridge insisted, when all was said and done, the traditional sledding hill at Lakeridge remain and not become a rockery. Kids of all ages had a blast sledding last week while parents could sit in the parking lot with the heater running observing and monitoring their children.
Our LMS vision continues despite the challenge of the weather:
Emotionally Safe: Spirit Week was a tremendous success with extreme participation and a rocking assembly that shook the building. The dance has been rescheduled for this Friday, January 27.
Socially Civil: Our Martin Luther King Jr. Day Assembly was rescheduled and provided our middle school students with a meaningful message. Rachel’s Challenge continues the chain reaction of kindness and compassion with our student body.
Academically Productive: The first semester calendar was adjusted to make certain students could complete their classes to their best potential. We know it upset family calendars. Our focus, however, was to make certain students were able to complete coursework and earn the best grade possible. Our Academic Enrichment Day provided students with both enrichment and intervention opportunities.
Our newsletter contains the news briefs that you need to know and write on the family calendar and/or enter on your electronic device. There are many that are critical so keep reading and recording.
As always, we are merely a telephone call or e-mail away.
