Around the District

Quality educators make Sumner School District one of the premier districts in the South Sound region. Our schools have a well-earned reputation for providing the highest level of service and a commitment to increasing student achievement.

The Sumner School District has more National Board Certified Teachers than any district of our size in the state. Rigorous academic programs, attention to success for all students and preparation for the 13th year are important to us. We are a high performing district:

• All of our schools and our district have met Adequate Yearly Progress Goals, as measured by the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act.
• All of our teachers meet the criteria of "highly-qualified" as defined by NCLB.
• Our students are performing at higher levels than ever before as measured by the WASL and other assessments.
• All of our schools are at or above state standard in reading, writing and mathematics at grades 4, 7, and 10.
• More kids than ever before are graduating. Our drop-out rate is under 5%
